The Require Return All Items from BOGO/Bundle Deals feature ensures that customers must return all items from a promotional discount (BOGO or Bundle) together. Partial returns from these promotional orders are not permitted, helping merchants maintain the integrity of their discount promotions and prevent abuse.

What This Feature Prevents
This feature addresses a common merchant concern: customers purchasing items under promotional discounts (like "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" or bundle deals) and then returning only the items they paid full price for while keeping the discounted/free items.

I - Setup in Shopify Admin
Create Promotional Discount
Create a discount in your Shopify Admin using one of the following discount types:
- Buy X Get Y (e.g., "Buy 2 Get 1 Free", "Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off")
- Amount off products (e.g., "Bundle: Save $20 when buying these 3 items")
Configure Discount Rules
- 1Configure your discount rules according to your promotion requirements
- 2Set minimum quantity requirements for BOGO deals
- 3Define which products qualify for the bundle
- 4Set discount amounts or percentages
- 5Configure date ranges and usage limits if needed
Automatic Discount Application
When customers make a purchase that satisfies the discount conditions, the discount is automatically applied at checkout.
III - Configuration in Returndotai Returns & Exchanges
Navigate to Policy Settings
- 1Navigate to the Settings > Policies in Returndotai Returns & Exchanges app
- 2Scroll to the promotional returns section
Enable BOGO/Bundle Rule
- 1Enable the rule: "Require return all items from BOGO/Bundle Deals"

IV - Customer Return Experience
Return Initiation
When a customer initiates a return through your Returndotai return portal:
Discount Detection
The system automatically identifies orders containing Shopify discounts (Buy X Get Y or Amount off products).
- 1System scans order for Shopify discount codes
- 2Identifies promotional discount types (BOGO, Bundle)
- 3Groups items that were part of the promotion
- 4Flags order as containing promotional discount
Item Selection Behavior
If the customer selects any item from a BOGO/Bundle discount group:
- 1All remaining items from that same promotional group are automatically selected
- 2A clear message explains why all items must be returned together
- 3Customer cannot deselect individual items from the promotional group
Return Submission Options
The customer can only proceed with returning:
- All items from the promotional group together, OR
- None of the items from that promotional group

- Returndotai Returns & Exchanges app installed
- Discounts created using Shopify's native discount types:

Important Notes
Enable for All Promotions
This feature should be enabled if you run any BOGO or bundle promotions. Without it, customers can exploit promotional discounts.
Communicate Policy Clearly
Add information to your return policy stating that all items from promotional bundles/BOGO deals must be returned together.
Use Native Shopify Discounts
The feature only works with Shopify's native "Buy X Get Y" and "Amount off products" discount types. Custom discount apps may not be supported.
Test with Sample Orders
Before launching promotions, create test orders with discounts and verify the return behavior works as expected.
Monitor Customer Feedback
Some customers may not understand why they can't return individual items. Be prepared to explain the policy clearly.

Display the return policy for promotional items at checkout and on product pages to set proper customer expectations.
